Day of Blogs is here!

Got a few minutes to spare today and tomorrow? Day of Blogs is chugging along wonderfully, and (we think!) there's still time to sponsor. You can check out their main blog to see what everyone is doing, how to sponsor, and navigate your way through the other blogs to cheer them on. There's tons of great content being produced, and a great array of charities folks can sponsor. Want to chat with the bloggers and sponsors en masse? Day of Blogs 2008

We had a sneaky suspicion that, even though the official Blogathon is taking the summer off, others would still want a charity blogging event. That's why we were thrilled to hear that Jen, a monitor and blogger from the 'thon, is organizing Day of Blogs, which will take place the same weekend the Blogathon would have, July 26th. We've offered Jen the services of our forums and she's taken us up on it, so if you want to participate you can either check out the official Day of Blogs site, or head over to the Day of Blogs portion of the Blogathon forum. We've set up a special forum area, not only for Day of Blogs, but for anyone doing a special Blogathon-esque event to promote their cause - even if you're not planning to blog for charity this summer, consider stopping by the forums to support those who are!

See you in '09!

Yup, it's true - the three administrators of Blogathon have had extensive discussions about whether or not we'll be able to go forward with Blogathon this summer, and it looks like the event will be taking a one year break. We're truly sorry for anyone who is disappointed, but we know you'll all be glad to see what we've got in store for the bigger, better Blogathon in 2009.

In the meantime, the forums remain open for folks to chit-chat about other summer plans. If we hear any rumors about anyone running an alterna-thon this summer, we'll be sure to let you know!

Another year off

With apologies, I will not be able to organize the Blogathon this year. I have very good, very personal reasons for this. There is still a possibility of other organizers stepping in, and we'll let you know if that happens. I hope to be back on board next year.

And other schwag. In fact, it may be that I just now ordered my Blogathon 2007 goodies. Yeah, I'm always late like that. The 2007 designs will stay up for quite a while, so toddle on over to the Cafepress store and grab a souvenir of this year's run.

Hey Bloggers--want to be a part of the first Blogathon podcast?

We are working on what we hope will be the first edition of a monthly podcast. In this inaugural recording, we'd like to include a montage of bloggers saying "Thank you" to their sponsors.

Here we are, the post-Blogathon lull.

Want to stay involved? Here's what's going on:

Help us build next years Blogathon in the forum! We'll be talking about ideas and plans all year.

Want to know when we're open for signups in 2008? Sign up for the mailing list. I do try to get regular mailings out during the year--about once a month--but usually, it's just the announcement mailer. This year it helped a lot of folks remember to get signed up! Our spam policy: DIE SPAMMERS. So no, we won't sell anything, ever. If you have received spam from Blogathon.org, it's because we're a popular website, and spammers fake blogathon.org as a return address--it isn't us. We would never spam!

We have big ideas going forward. We're hoping to post a monthly podcast, stories from bloggers, and lots of other things during the off-season. Stay tuned!

Check your junk mail folder!

Every year it happens. Doesn't matter how we send thousands of emails, just the act of doing so lands us in the spam heap for some folks. So please, be sure to check your spam folder for sponsor emails. They will say blogathon.org, and may also say cornerhost on them, as that's the server we sent from.
