Blogger Spotlight: Missy for National Kidney Foundation

"I'm blogging for the National Kidney Foundation for the third year in a row, because my best friend has a rare, genetic kidney disorder. He's been slowly withering before my eyes for nearly four years now. He's very, very sick.

"On July 25th, three days before the 'thon, he will finally get his kidney transplant. And on the day of the 'thon, provided all goes well, he'll be released from Stanford University Medical Center to recover at his mother's house for 6 weeks.

"The odds are in his favor - he's young (27), his donor is living and closely related (his Dad), he's having the surgery at the top ranked transplant center in the nation ...but things can still go wrong. I feel like this 'thon is the most important one ever."
