Congratulations to Food and Movies (And Other Stuff, Too), blogging for the ASPCA. You can sponsor Stacia here.
Will she do it again?
I'm definitely going to do this again next year! I'll probably be thinking of theme ideas all year and deciding on a new charity. I love my charity (the ASPCA) but it's good to share the love, too. This has been a really satisfying way to raise funds for charity - plus I've met some really nice people, found some great blogs, and the way I felt when I saw my pledge totals rise was indescribable! Next year I'll make sure I give myself more time to go to other blogs, I just didn't spend enough time doing that this year because I bogged myself down with too many formatting details.
More plans...
From Liz:
Absolutely yes! This has been a blast, and it feels great doing something for an organization (and topic) I feel passionate about. I've gotten letters from other members in the organization, so I know some have stayed up fairly late with me - it's been great, seeing the support, even if we didn't get the sponsorships (only $80 so far). But that's ok. The point is to do it, you know?
Now - the question is whether or not I'll be blogging for DVS again next year. There's another organization I would like to blog for, but they don't have a website, yet, so it'll depend on whether or not the develop an online presence. If not, absolutely DVS again.
From Brittany:
Am I doing this again next year? Absolutely. I feel like I've not only
helped make a change, but I've made friends with people who are out there
making changes for what they believe in, and that's way cooler than anything
anybody could ever talk me into doing.
So my changes for next year? I plan on having my blog more organized and
interactive. I also plan to have a friend blog with me, to keep me busy
inbetween posting times.
But will I do it again? I'm a lifetime member now, you can't get me to go
away. Addicted baby! I'd do it every weekend if I could.
From Blue:
Will I be participating in next year's blogathon? Absolutely! We've been going now for 7.5 hours, my friends and I, and it's been a blast. We've been talking all night, laughing... and every now and then we just stop and marvel of this great thing we're a part of. We're doing something for our community AS a community. We're each doing what we can for something we believe in and want to get behind. And it's been such a joy to do this together. We've got some great ideas for passing the time and making this even more fun for our readers and hope to come up with even more for next year to make it truly interactive.
I am having a blast... it's 4:30am and I'm loving every minute.
Blogathon is awesome! I can't wait to do it again next year!
And finally, from Tracey:
Okay, so I'm a b-blogger, and don't know the pain of 24 hours of no sleep just yet.
I'm already positive if it's possible I will be doing this next year, though. I think this way of getting charity is possibly the most personal way of doing it out there. When you run, all you can say is 'I'm so dedicated I ran a zillion miles per hour and nearly made my feet turn to stumps!' This blogathon you actually CONNECT with the people sponsoring you, and offer them a way to interact right back. It's got a very community-based feel to it, and that is very Nice. Plus, what an awesome way to showcase your talents - some of the things I've seen bloggers doing is incredible.
Then, we have the fact that this is on the internet. You pretty much can get sponsors from anywhere in the world - heck, I even got one from across the globe in New Zealand - whereas you might not have that opportunity in other charity events. I'm getting so much out of this fact with my charity, which is dedicated to American politics. I've been getting to interact with people from other countries, and as a political science major some of the conversations I've had have REALLY been interesting. I never would have gotten this doing any other kind of charity event.
So yes. I, in fact, will be joining the masses next year, coffee in hand. I'm proud to be a part of this fabulous group.
